The Nights of Souk Laghzal vibrate to the rhythm of Melhoun

On Friday evening, 21 March 2025, the troupe from the Al-Chamâa Association for Heritage Arts delighted the public at Souk Laghzal in Salé with a ‘Night of Melhoun’, celebrating this ancestral art form and the city’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.

Organised in partnership with the municipality of Salé and the Salé Foundation for Culture and the Arts, this event is part of the third edition of the « Ramadan nights at Souk Laghzal ».

During the evening, the troupe presented a carefully selected repertoire of Melhoun poems, taking spectators on an authentic and traditional journey to the heart of Morocco’s heritage.

The Night of the Art of Melhoun aims to honour Moroccan creativity in this art form, especially as it has been included on the list of humanity’s intangible cultural heritage.
