The city of Salé hosted the activities of the 12th edition of the National N’zaha Days of Malhoun from 29 October to 1 November 2026. The event was organised by the Idriss Al-Mamoun Association for Research and Creativity in the Art of Malhoun, in partnership with the Commune of Salé and the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, under the theme: “The Art of Malhoun: An Expression of Moroccan Identity in Its Various Dimensions.”
This edition provided an opportunity to celebrate the art of Malhoun as an authentic component of Morocco’s cultural heritage and a fundamental pillar of collective memory and national identity. It stood out for its diverse programme, which included conferences, artistic performances, book signings and training workshops, as well as tributes to several distinguished figures whose careers have been marked by outstanding contributions to the fields of culture, art, politics and community engagement.
This event is part of ongoing efforts to preserve the art of Malhoun, promote its various artistic and creative expressions, and strengthen its presence within the national cultural landscape. It also aims to ensure its continuity and pass on its rich creative heritage to future generations, thereby contributing to the preservation of this centuries-old art form and safeguarding its place among the fundamental components of Moroccan cultural identity.
