Salé Municipality Organizes an Information Meeting with Members of the Youth Advisory Council
As part of the implementation of participatory democracy mechanisms in the areas of dialogue and consultation, and with a view to strengthening youth participation in local affairs, the Municipality of Salé organized an information meeting on Thursday, 8 October 2026, for members of the Youth Advisory Council.
The meeting provided an opportunity for participants to get to know one another, welcome new members, and present the council’s missions and roles. It also served as a platform for discussion on its operating procedures and mechanisms, with the aim of enabling it to fully carry out its responsibilities as a space for dialogue, consultation, proposal development, and advocacy on issues relating to young people.
On this occasion, Mr. Abdelkader El Kihal, Vice-President of the Salé Municipal Council, emphasized that the establishment of this advisory mechanism reflects the Municipal Council’s commitment to engaging more closely with young people and strengthening their contribution as a source of proposals and a key driver of local development. He also noted that the Youth Advisory Council brings together talented and highly skilled young people with solid educational backgrounds and a strong willingness to contribute to the local development process.
Mr. El Kihal stated that, following the establishment phase of the council, the focus should now shift towards structured institutional work through the definition of its operational framework and the development of its internal rules of procedure. He stressed the importance of engaging with the various relevant institutions and bodies to encourage the exchange of expertise and experience, as well as the development of proposals that address the needs and expectations of young people.
The meeting also featured an open discussion with council members, who actively participated in the exchanges. They raised several issues concerning the council’s operating procedures, the continuity of its activities, the effectiveness of its working mechanisms, and the means of ensuring that its proposals and recommendations are taken into consideration.
