Organization of an Artistic Evening Dedicated to Melhoun at Borj Adoumoue in Salé
As part of its commitment to ensuring the sustainability of Morocco’s intangible cultural heritage and promoting the art of Melhoun, the Driss Belmamoune Association for Research and Creation in the Art of Melhoun in Salé organized, on the evening of Friday, July 24, 2026, an artistic evening dedicated to Melhoun at the Borj Adoumoue venue in Salé, under the theme: “The Prophet’s Hijra in Melhoun Poetry.”
This cultural event was held in the presence of Mr. Omar Sentissi, President of the Municipality of Salé, as well as numerous distinguished figures passionate about this authentic art form, alongside cultural actors and admirers of this ancestral heritage.
The performance provided an opportunity to celebrate the art of Melhoun, considered one of the pillars of Moroccan cultural identity. A group of performers took turns on stage to present a selection of qasidas, highlighting the authenticity of this centuries-old art form as well as its spiritual and patriotic dimensions. In an atmosphere where artistic creativity blended harmoniously with the charm of the historic site, the evening took on a special character thanks to its setting in the emblematic Borj Adoumoue, offering a historic and aesthetic backdrop in perfect harmony with the authenticity of Melhoun.
The event also generated great enthusiasm among the audience, who praised the artistic quality of the performances and expressed their appreciation for the efforts made by the Association to safeguard this cultural heritage, while providing the public with an opportunity to discover the aesthetic richness of Melhoun and enjoy its creations in a sublime open-air historic setting.
The evening concluded with applause and widespread appreciation from the participants, demonstrating Melhoun’s ability to continue captivating a broad audience thanks to initiatives aimed at preserving and promoting this precious cultural gem.
