Organization of the Traditional Candle Procession in Salé on the Occasion of Al-Mawlid Annabawi

On the eve of the celebration of the blessed birth of the Prophet Sidna Mohammed, peace and blessings of God be upon him, and under the theme “Salé, History and Civilization,” the city of Salé resonated on Monday, August 24, 2026, to the rhythm of the traditional Candle Procession of Moulay Abdellah Ben Hassoun.

This emblematic heritage event took place in a festive and warm atmosphere, attracting large numbers of local residents, visitors, and enthusiasts of this centuries-old cultural heritage, deeply rooted in the history of the city.

The procession proceeded in a well-organized atmosphere filled with joy and celebration. The program featured artistic performances and religious chants in tribute to the Prophet Sidna Mohammed, peace and blessings of God be upon him, with the participation of several musicians representing the Tarab Al-Ala musical tradition.

The procession was also distinguished by the carrying of richly decorated candles, crafted using traditional techniques and featuring a variety of shapes and colors, giving the celebration an aesthetic, symbolic, and heritage dimension.

The event was also attended by the Secretary-General of the Salé Prefecture, the President of the Salé Communal Council, and the President of the Prefectural Council, as well as several elected officials, civil society representatives, and personalities interested in cultural and heritage affairs.
