The project of the unified plan of the city of Salé at the center of a consultation meeting

The Salé unified development plan was the focus of a meeting organized on Thursday, September 7, 2017, by the municipality of the city under the theme “The Salé unified development plan: horizons and expectations”, in the framework of the communal initiative “Thursday of concertation”.

Initially, the president of the communal council of the city of Salé, Jamaâ El Moâtassim, indicated that the Salé unified development plan, currently in the public investigation phase (August 25-September 25), aims to control the development the urban area of ​​the city according to a rational vision of the real estate exploitation, to create a balance between the various uses of the ground and to support the economic projects of investment, allowing the creation of job opportunities. This plan, he added, which also aims to ensure urbanization that takes into account transport needs and respect for the environment, is of great importance as a reference document for urban planning, specifying the different zones and the objectives for which they are intended.

For his part, the Director of Urban Planning and Management of the Rabat-Salé Urban Agency, Saïd Wirane, said that this development plan “will make it possible to realize a strategic vision to meet the challenges related to space competition”, adding that the plan, which “incorporates the economic component first, then the social and environmental component, thus respecting the requirements of sustainable development”, and aims to attract investors to promote job creation. Mr. Wirane recalled the prominent role of Salé by its proximity to the capital Rabat, noting that the unified management plan of the city is intended to be a realization of a strategic vision with aims of economic and social development.

The program of this meeting included four presentations focused on “The unified development plan of the city of Salé: vision and orientations”, “The development project and the urban development prospects of the city of Salé”, “The plan unified development of the city of Salé and investor expectations “and” What a proposal for the contribution of civil society to the unified development plan of the city of Salé “.

The “Thursday of consultation” initiated by the municipality of Salé aims to support participatory democracy at the local level through the holding of monthly consultation meetings around issues of local development of the city. They also aim to improve and enrich collective decision-making, through the participation of citizens in these meetings, which offer the communal council the opportunity to hear the grievances of citizens. These meetings, which take place on the first Thursday of each month, are open to citizens, local actors, civil society and the media.
