The president of the commune of Salé welcomes the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Morocco

On 12 September 2017, Mr. Jamaâ El Moâtassim, President of the Salé commune, welcomed Mr. Li Li, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Morocco. The meeting was attended by Mr. Rachid Douibi, First Communal Vice-President, the Chief of Staff of the President and the Director General of Communal Services.

During the meeting, the two leaders exchanged views on Sino-Moroccan relations and decentralized cooperation between the two countries.

At the meeting, El Moâtassim welcomed the deep historical relations between Morocco and China in a number of areas, which have developed qualitatively following the visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to China the previous year.

Mr El Moâtassim stressed that the municipality of Salé has many qualifications in various fields and is considering developing opportunities to exploit them through partnerships, which contribute to improving their development opportunities and strengthening them further in terms of equipment and services. In this regard, he expressed the Council’s desire to open avenues for cooperation and exchange of experience in areas of common interest, particularly in the areas of tourism, investment, crafts and transport.

On its side, the Chinese Ambassador also welcomed the historic relations between the two countries, stressing the importance of the visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the Republic in May 2016, marked by the signing of significant number conventions covering various fields.

In order to share and exchange their mutual experiences, Mr Li expressed the need to conclude twinning agreements and decentralized cooperation between the commune of Salé and the Chinese territorial communes, which converge in terms of strengths and specificities.

At the end of the debate, Mr Jamaâ El Moâtassim presented a souvenir gift to his excellent guest.
