Second evening of the Ramadanesque Nights in Souk Laghzal

The third edition of the Ramadanesque Nights in Souk Laghzal continued on Wednesday evening, 19 March 2025, with an evening dedicated to the Hadra Féminine under the direction of the artist Soukaina El Assouli.

The evening was punctuated by an awards ceremony for Lalla Taj El Molouk Alaoui and Lalla Saida Alaoui Ismaili, in recognition of their contribution to the art of Hadra and their valuable efforts to preserve this ancestral musical heritage.

Launch of the third edition of the Ramadanesque Nights of the Souk Laghzal

In the historic Souk Laghzal square in the old medina of Salé, the 3rd edition of the Ramadanesque Nights of the Souk Laghzal, organised jointly by the municipality of Salé and the Salé Foundation for Culture and the Arts, was launched on Tuesday evening, 18 March 2025, to celebrate the city’s cultural and artistic heritage.

The event is a distinctive stop-off to celebrate the city’s cultural and spiritual heritage, with evenings combining Madih and Samaâ, Aïssaoua and Gnaoua performances, Andalusian music, and the art of melhoun, where the gentle sounds and authentic rhythms converge to add a touch of history and charm to the place.

The Nights kicked off with a special evening devoted to comedy, during which a group of young comedians entertained the public with humorous performances that were enthusiastically received by the audience, in an atmosphere full of joy and elation.

Visit of accredited ambassadors in Morocco to the photo exhibition of the old medina of Salé

As part of the drive to strengthen cultural diplomacy and identify the age-old heritage of the Salé medina, the municipality of Salé, in collaboration with the Fondation Diplomatique, organised, on Thursday 13 March 2025, a special visit for a delegation of ambassadors accredited to our country to the photographic exhibition of the old medina of Salé, organised under the theme: ‘Salé, roots and civilisation’, at the Bab Fès gallery.

The diplomatic delegation was informed of the tables that reflect the historical features, cultural and artistic aspects of the old Medina of Salé, highlighting its architectural features which bear witness to the roots of its civilization and the richness of its heritage. The delegation also visited a number of historical monuments in the city, including Dar Al Qadi, the Merinid Medersa, the Tower of Tears and Souk Laghzal Square, where they were given explanations about the historical depth of these monuments.

On this occasion, Mr. Abdelati Habek, president of the Diplomatic Foundation, stressed that this visit, organized for the benefit of the ambassadors accredited to Morocco, is part of the presentation of Moroccan civilization and its deep roots, and highlighting the unique character of Morocco as a land of tolerance and coexistence. He added that the delegation of ambassadors was able to explore the ancient medina of Salé, such as the Merinid Medersa, the Tower of Tears, and other heritage monuments that have been a model of coexistence between civilizations, cultures and religions through the ages.

On behalf of the diplomatic delegation, Mr. Henri Mangaya Yange Mondowa, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, expressed his gratitude and thanks for the organization of this visit which was an opportunity to discover the history and heritage of the city, commending the efforts of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to preserve and develop the heritage, and praying the Almighty to grant His Majesty a speedy recovery.

It should be noted that this visit involved some thirty diplomats accredited to Morocco, representing Arab, African, European, Latin American and South American countries. The visit ended with a collective Iftar in honour of the guests.

Reception of a delegation from the city of Monheim in Germany

As part of promoting parallel diplomacy and exploring cooperation and partnership opportunities between the commune of Salé and the German city of Monheim, Mr. Omar Sentissi, the president of the commune, received in his office a delegation composed of several political and academic figures, including elected officials, the president of the “Us in Monheim” association, as well as doctors, professors, and lawyers.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of gifts and souvenir photos.

Subsequently, the delegation took an exploratory tour of the alleys and monuments of the old medina of Salé.

‘Souk Laghzal Nights’ Ramadanesque festival programme

The municipality of Salé, in partnership with the Salé Foundation for Culture and the Arts, is organising the third edition of the Ramadanesque festival ‘Souk Laghzal Nights’ during the period from 17 to 24 March 2025 at the ‘Souk Laghzal’ square in the old medina of Salé. The shows will start at 9pm.

The invitation is open to the public.
