Announcement of postponement of the Ramadan festival ‘Souk Laghzal Nights’

On the basis of forecasts from the Directorate General of Meteorology concerning weather fluctuations and the good rainfall expected in our country over the next few days, the municipality of Salé announces the postponement of the dates of the third edition (1446 H / 2025 AD) of the Ramadanesque festival ‘The Nights of Souk Laghzal’, organised in partnership with the Salé Foundation for Culture and the Arts on the square of ‘Souk Laghzal’ located in the old medina of Salé.

The modified dates will be announced at a later date. Thank you for your understanding.

‘Souk Laghzal Nights’ Ramadanesque festival programme

The municipality of Salé, in partnership with the Salé Foundation for Culture and the Arts, is organising the third edition of the Ramadanesque festival ‘Souk Laghzal Nights’ during the period from 11 to 22 March 2025 at the ‘Souk Laghzal’ square in the old medina of Salé. The shows will start at 8pm.

MESSAGE OF GOOD WISHES ON THE OCCASION OF THE BLESSED MONTH OF RAMADAN

On the occasion of the advent of the holy month of Ramadan for the year 1446 of the Hegira, the President of the Commune of Salé, M. The municipality of Salé presents its cultural program for the year 2025

The municipality of Salé organized a press conference on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, to present its cultural program for the year 2025, in the presence of journalists, artists, elected officials, and association leaders, as well as representatives from government sectors and partner institutions of the program.

The conference was inaugurated with a speech by Mr. Omar Sentissi, president of the Salé municipal council, who emphasized that the municipality’s cultural program includes a set of activities and events aimed at promoting cultural life and strengthening the city’s cultural influence, as well as encouraging cultural initiatives that contribute to highlighting Salé’s cultural identity at the national and international levels. He specified that the preparation and implementation of the program rely on a participatory approach coordinated with various sectors and cultural institutions, including civil society associations active in this field.

For his part, Mr. Mohamed Nejjar, Vice President of the Salé Municipal Council and in charge of cultural affairs, unveiled through a detailed presentation the components of the program, which includes 12 main axes covering various areas of cultural life. The speaker indicated that the activities will take place in several spaces, including public squares, traditional houses, and cultural complexes, with the aim of strengthening local culture and consolidating citizens’ connection with their tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

Mr. Nejjar also highlighted the main axes of the program, which notably include the exhibition of photographs of the medina of Salé titled “Roots and Civilization” , the second edition of the program “Only Through Art” , the educational and artistic program to animate the cultural complex of the ” Royal ” cinema, the Ramadan nights of the “Souk Lghzel,” the evenings of “Souk Lekbir,” the literary squares and houses of the city of Salé, the international conference “Culture and City” with the participation of mayors from national and foreign cities and bringing together experts and researchers to discuss the role of culture in urban planning and sustainable development, the film screenings, the “Hitane” program, the animation program of the “Souk Assalihine” square, as well as the cultural, artistic, and sports animation program of the Salé beach.

During his speech, Mr. Mohamed Lotfi Lmrini, president of the Salé Foundation for Culture and Arts, the main partner of the municipality in various cultural initiatives, emphasized the importance of valuing the cultural and heritage assets that the city of Salé is rich in, by highlighting its diverse historical and civilizational depth, and by encouraging cultural tourism. He also proposed a series of recommendations to revitalize the city’s cultural scene, including the creation of dynamic cultural hubs and the adoption of a local heritage registry.

Subsequently, a section was dedicated to debate and interaction with media representatives and participants who posed a series of questions related to the contents of the cultural program. The municipal officials provided all the necessary explanations, while affirming their commitment to implementing the program according to a participatory approach, and their openness to various suggestions likely to enrich the program and ensure the achievement of its objectives.

Launch of the second edition of the ‘Only through Art’ programme for 2025

On Saturday 8 February 2025, Mr Omar Sentissi, President of the Salé Local Council, supervised the launch of the second edition of the ‘Only through Art’ programme for the year 2025 at the Salé Institute of Hotel and Tourist Technology. The event was attended by the Provincial Director of the Salé Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sport, the President of the Salé Foundation for Culture and the Arts, the representative of Redal, and representatives of the programme’s partner associations.

On this occasion, after welcoming the participants and thanking the supporting institutions, Mr. Sentissi stressed that the cultural and artistic program “Only through Art” embodies the openness of the municipal council of Salé to associative actors, according to a participatory approach aimed at involving associations active in the cultural, artistic, educational and social fields, by organizing animation activities for the benefit of students from educational institutions in the different districts of the municipality, adding that the implementation of this initiative is done in coordination with the Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of National Education, and the Salé Foundation for Culture and the Arts, with the aim of promoting school life and strengthening the cultural and artistic offer for the benefit of students.

For his part, Mr. Mohamed Nejjar, vice-president of the municipality of Salé in charge of Cultural Affairs, explained that the organization of the second session of the program “Only through Art“ reflects the success of its first edition, which translates into the expansion of the scope of the program, both in terms of the number of its axes and beneficiary educational institutions, which will reach 132 institutions this year, in addition to the increase in the number of participating associations to 67 associations, and it is expected that about 45 thousand students will benefit from this second edition.

Mr. Omar Sentissi participates in the work of the session of the Executive Council of the Arab Towns Organization in Tangier

Mr. Omar Sentissi, president of the Municipal Council of Salé, took part in the 62nd session of the Executive Council of the Arab Towns Organization held in Tangier from January 31 to February 03, 2025, with delegations from major Arab cities and influential figures in local governance participating.

This event, marking a significant step in strengthening joint Arab cooperation and exchanging experiences in local governance, holds particular importance as it reflects Morocco’s leading role in achieving the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, aimed at enhancing coordination and cooperation between Arab countries across various development fields.

It also highlights Morocco’s commitment to strengthening the position of Moroccan cities at both regional and international levels through the adoption of advanced local governance, focusing on sustainability and modern urban planning.
