Launch of school visits to the photographic exhibition of the old medina of Salé

Visits by students of both sexes from public and private educational institutions began on the morning of January 20, 2025, at the traveling photographic exhibition of the old medina of Salé organized at the “Bab Fès” gallery.

During this excursion, specialized cultural guides provided students with in-depth explanations and valuable information on the photos exhibited, which document the ancestral and heritage sites of the city. They also had the opportunity to wander the alleys of the old medina, exploring its main centuries-old monuments; which will contribute to improving their knowledge of the history and heritage of their city.

The launch was attended by Mr. Omar Sentissi, President of the Salé commune, Mr. Mohamed Nejjar, Vice-President of the commune, Mr. Abdelkader El Kihel, President of the Bab Lamrissa district, and Mr. Mohamed Lotfi Lmrini, President of the Salé Foundation for Culture and the Arts, as well as a number of officials from the commune and educational staff from educational institutions.

Inauguration of the traveling exhibition of photographs of the old medina of Salé

 Mr. Omar Sentissi, president of the municipality of Salé, presided, Wednesday, January 15, 2025, the inauguration of the traveling exhibition of photographs of the old medina of Salé, organized by the municipality in partnership with the Sala Foundation for Culture and the Arts, under the slogan “Salé, roots and civilization”. The event brought together a multitude of cultural, artistic, media and political personalities, as well as a number of citizens.

On this occasion, Mr. Sentissi indicated that the organization of this exhibition is part of the cultural program of the municipality for the year 2025, whose implementation is carried out according to a participatory approach and in coordination with stakeholders. He stressed that the event represents a qualitative addition to the cultural and artistic scene of the city, as it contributes to highlighting its historical particularities as well as its rich heritage. The exhibition also aims to allow current generations to familiarize themselves with the artistic heritage of the ancient medina and to encourage them to preserve it, in addition to its role in promoting the city as an attractive cultural and tourist destination.

For his part, Mr. Mohamed Nejjar, Vice-president of the Salé Council in charge of Cultural Affairs, highlighted that the exhibition presents a collection of photographs that reflects the historical, cultural and artistic particularities of the city, while highlighting its authentic architectural features. He added that the exhibition is aimed at all visitors and residents, especially students of both sexes to unveil the history of the city and its monuments, and also represents an opportunity to organize tourist visits for their benefit to explore these secular sites.

From his side, Mr. Mohamed Lotfi Lmrini, President of the Sala Foundation for Culture and the Arts, noted the importance of this exhibition, which includes photographs of the remains and the most remarkable archaeological sites that illustrate the authenticity of the city and the depth of its civilization. He emphasized the uniqueness of Salé compared to other local cultures of ancient Moroccan cities, in particular the presence of monuments such as the Great Mosque, which is considered by its ancestral building to be one of the largest in Morocco, the Merinid Madrasah with its exquisite ornaments, the suspended water canal, and other jewels of material cultural heritage that make it a singular city.

Organization of a traveling photographic exhibition of the old medina of Salé

In order to contribute to publicizing the historical qualities of the city of Salé and to highlight its authentic and diverse heritage, the municipality of Salé, in partnership with the Sala Foundation for Culture and the Arts, organizes a traveling exhibition of photographs of the old medina of Salé under the slogan: “Salé: Roots and Civilization”, in several spaces of the city.

The exhibition is open to the public, in the first stage at the Bab Fez Gallery, during the period from January 20 to February 28, 2025, from Monday to Saturday, from 9:30 am to 17 pm.

Organization of a training session for the benefit of cultural assistants as part of the activities of the traveling exhibition of photographs of the medina of Salé

As part of the preparations for the traveling exhibition of photographs of the medina of Salé, which will be organized by the municipality of Salé in partnership with the Sala Foundation for Culture and the Arts, a training session was organized for the benefit of six candidates carefully selected to participate as cultural assistants in this landmark cultural event. This course took place during the period from January 11 to 13, 2025 at the Said Hajji Cultural Center.

Mohamed Nejjar, vice-president of the municipality of Salé in charge of Cultural Affairs, explained that this training session aims to strengthen the participants’ skills in the field of cultural mediation and to prepare them to assume the role of cultural guides, focusing on providing them with the necessary techniques to communicate and interact with visitors to the exhibition, adding that this initiative is part of the municipal desire to develop local skills and support cultural activities, this will contribute to highlighting the richness of the historical and architectural heritage of the medina of Salé.

The training workshops included various integrated topics, in particular the presentation of the historical and archaeological monuments of the ancient medina, the development of effective communication skills with the public, in addition to improving the understanding of the educational approach on which the exhibition project is based. These workshops were presented by specialists in cultural heritage and cultural mediation.

The municipality of Salé organizes a preparatory meeting for the second edition of the cultural program “Only through Art”

Mohamed Nejjar, vice-president of the council of the municipality of Salé in charge of cultural affairs, chaired, Wednesday, January 08, 2025 at the Said Hajji Cultural Complex, a preparatory meeting for the launch of the second edition of the cultural and artistic program “Only through Art”, organized by the municipality of Salé in cooperation with the Salé Foundation for Culture and the Arts, and in coordination with the Provincial Directorate of National Education, Primary Education and Sports of Salé, with the participation of civil society associations active in the fields of culture, art, literature and the animation of school life.

At the beginning of this meeting, in which the representatives of the associations wishing to participate in the activities of the program took part, Mr. Nejjar explained that the organization of the second edition of the said program “Only through Art” comes after the success of the first edition, and which reflects the will of the municipality to open up to its environment and to strengthen its contribution to supporting school life activities for the benefit of students in public education institutions. The speaker provided data and explanations on the objectives of the program and the methodology of supervision and work to manage to make the students benefit from the workshops organized, adding that as part of the support and accompaniment, training courses will be organized for the benefit of the participating associations.

Then, the discussion and interaction on the content of the program were opened, and comments and recommendations were provided to improve it.

The first axis: plastic arts, music, cinema, photographic art and coaching.

The second axis: reading and literature, citizenship education, environment and water.

The third axis: cooking and pastry, sewing and manual art.

The fourth axis: educational animation.
