HM the King launches in Salé the national food support operation “Ramadan 1439”

His Majesty the King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, on Thursday at the Al Inbiât district of Salé, at the launch of the national food support operation “Ramadan 1439”, initiated by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity at the opportunity of the holy month of Ramadan.

This action of generosity, highly significant in this blessed month, reflects the constant royal solicitude towards the poor and comes to devote the values ​​of humanity, solidarity, mutual aid and sharing characteristic of Moroccan society.

Organized with the support of the Ministries of the Interior (Directorate General of Local Authorities) and Habous and Islamic Affairs, this national operation, which is in its 19th edition, has become over time an annual meeting to bring helping and comforting the most vulnerable social groups, including widows, the elderly and people with disabilities.

It is in line with the humanitarian program led by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, which aims to provide support to those who need it most, while promoting the culture of solidarity.
The operation “Ramadan 1439” mobilizes a budget of 80 million dirhams, against 55 million dirhams that were allocated for the previous year. This increase is due, at the same time, to the enlargement of the base of the beneficiaries, which is established this year to 2.5 million people grouped within 500.000 households, of which 429.100 live in rural environment, but also to the adding new foods to the food basket offered.

For the smooth running of this operation, thousands of people are mobilized, supported by social workers and volunteers, including young students. The implementation of this initiative is also subject to controls, in particular at the level of two committees, one local and the other provincial, which ensure on the ground the monitoring of the supply of the distribution centers, the identification of beneficiaries and the distribution of foodstuffs.

The Professional Group of Banks of Morocco (GPBM), the General Treasury of the Kingdom and Barid Al Maghrib also lend their support to the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity by helping to control the financial aspects of the operation. The National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA) oversees the quality control of distributed food products.

HM the King inaugurates “Prince Moulay Abdallah” Prefectural Hospital in Salé

His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him, proceeded on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 in the Hssaine district, at the inauguration of the “Prince Moulay Abdallah” prefectural hospital, with a capacity for about 250 beds and required an investment of  312 million dirhams.

With a strong social impact, this project reflects the Sovereign’s particular interest in the health sector, particularly through the development of hospital infrastructures, the strengthening of basic health services and their bringing together of citizens.

It also testifies of HM the King’s conviction that the right of access to health services, which was enshrined in the Kingdom’s constitution, represents one of the major pillars for the consolidation of citizenship with dignity and for the realization of the global and integrated human development.

This new hospital structure, which will serve a population of more than one million inhabitants, will ensure greater complementarity in the health map in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, while promoting the decongestion of the University Hospital Center Ibn Sina of Rabat, nursery of competences and structure of medical research of national dimension.

With a regional vocation, this hospital translates the permanent Royal Will to allow all citizens to access quality health care.

Constructed on a plot of 3.7 hectares, the new “Prince Moulay Abdallah” prefectural hospital, featuring the latest in contemporary technology, contributes to bringing basic health services closer to citizens who no longer need them to move to Rabat for complicated surgeries or some difficult pathologies.

It includes a medical-technical department (medical imaging unit, medical biology unit, resuscitation unit, functional exploration unit), an emergency department, a blood bank, a hospital of the day and a department. Mother-Child sheltering units of gyneco-obstetrics and pediatrics.

The “Prince Moulay Abdallah” prefectural hospital also includes departments of surgery, trauma-orthopedics-neurology, ophthalmology-ORL-stomato, nephrology / hemodialysis and polyvalent diagnostic units, a heliport, RAMED windows, CNOPS , CNSS, and other administrative and technical dependencies.

Conducted by the Ministry of Health, this new hospital structure will offer personalized care to the populations of the city of Salé, in a modern and humanized setting, responding to the symbolic social and civic dimension of the Hospital.

It should be noted that the new hospital, located in the Hssaine district, will be served by line two of the Rabat – Salé Tramway, whose extension project is currently underway.

Organization of the eighth martial arts event in Bab Lamrissa district

The district Bab Lamrissa organized, Saturday and Sunday, April 7-8, 2018 at the Hall Fathallah Bouâzzaoui, the martial arts sporting event, in its eighth edition, under the motto: “Lamrissa, cradle of champions”. This sporting ceremony was marked by the presence, in addition to the participating teams, of many Lamrissa champions in this kind of sport, parents and guardians of the participants, as well as sport lovers.

This meeting was attended by the president of the commune of Salé, Jamaâ El Moâtassim, the president of the district Bab Lamrissa, Aziz Benbrahim, the president of the district Tabriquet, Karima Boutkhil, besides a multitude of elected and local personalities.

This event was crowned by the awarding of prizes to the winners and participating teams.

 

The municipality of Salé organizes a day of study and evaluation-assessment of the first year elapsed of the meetings of the “Thursday of Concertation”

The commune of Salé organized, Saturday, April 07, 2018 at the Hotel and Tourist Institute of Technology (ITHT) of Salé, a study day devoted to the evaluation-assessment of the first year of the meetings of the “Thursday of Concertation” (TC ); and in the presence of the President of the municipality of Salé, Jamaâ El Moâtassim, the coordinator of German cooperation, Fabio Germano, representatives of the consultation committees and civil society, a group of elected officials, actors interested parties and journalists.

As a prelude to this meeting, the TC steering committee member and host of the inaugural session, Rachid Zellou, insisted that the monthly assemblies of the TC of Salé have become a pilot experiment at the local and national, and even international, levels in the field of operational implementation of the principle of participatory democracy; which principle has been stated both by the Constitution of the Kingdom and the organic laws on the territorial communes. He added that the success of this initiative reflects the determined will and commitment of the Salé municipal council. Only, the speaker mentioned that this experience had strengths and weaknesses, and that the workshops of this day of study would make it possible to elucidate it and to formulate its own recommendations.

During his speech on this occasion, Mr. El Moâtassim emphasized his pride in this participatory experience and reiterated his thanks to all those who contributed in its support and success, namely: the Directorate-General for Local Authorities (DGCL); the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ), which has supported the project since its launch; the different external services by their remarkable participation in the various stages of the TC of Salé; as well as civil society associations because of their commitment, interaction and dynamism. Mr. President also recalled that all human action is flawed and that the evaluation process of the TC gatherings will be an annual reunion to identify the strengths and weaknesses to correct and reinforce the course of the experience, as many Moroccan cities have expressed their willingness to benefit from this initiative, in addition to the fact that it was recently presented in Tunis as part of a symposium organized by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). In addition, the President of the Council informed the audience that Salé would host a national forum for participatory action during the current year.

He also added that one of the powers of this experience would be the constant feeling of ownership by everyone. He also promised to work on strengthening the TC Task Force and the establishment of the “House of Concertation” to serve as a seat and communal consultation space, like a number of other city’s cultural spaces. The Chair also suggested that the annual evaluation workshops be organized and published in a dedicated book.

For his part, the representative of the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ), Fabio Germano, congratulated everyone for the excellence of the consultative experience of Salé, recalling the beginnings of the project and highlighting the spontaneous response, the commitment and cooperation of Salé council. The same speaker expressed his admiration for the in-depth discussions and the serious, responsible and sometimes burning participation of the various participants in the audiences of the TC, expressing the will of his organization to continue the cooperation with the municipality to follow the experience and ensure its continuity.

Subsequently, three workshops were formed:
• 1st workshop: “Evaluation of the objectives and the mission of the TC of Salé”;
• 2nd workshop: “Evaluation of the work and organization of the TC of Salé meetings”;
• 3rd workshop: “Practical Suggestions on the means of the implementation of the recommendations resulting from the TC of Salé meetings “.

The various workshops had rich discussions, and many recommendations were presented by the recorders of these workshops in plenary session.

A synthesis report will be prepared on the various workshops and the recommendations that came out of it, which will be published later on the portal of the municipality.

Giant waves hit Salé coastal road

On the evening of Wednesday, April 4, 2018, the coast of Salé, at the Corniche Sidi Moussa, has experienced strong waves, reaching the public street, carrying with it rubble and stones along the coastal road.

The competent communal services rushed to the scene, where they undertook, in coordination with the management company of the cleaning sector, to clean the road of the residues left by these rogue waves, using the necessary logistical equipment

Opening of the Bab Fès gallery after its rehabilitation

The city of Salé lived, Thursday, March 29, 2018, the inauguration ceremony of the gallery Bab Fès after the completion of the works of its rehabilitation, with more adapted standards, thus allowing this historic place to be a space dedicated to cultural and artistic activities.

The opening ceremony included a photo exhibition reminiscent of the key dates in the memory of this legendary site, as well as the presentation of a series of works of plastic art.

It is known that the renovation of this historic monument was carried out with the assistance of the council of the Salé prefecture, the National Initiative for Human Development and with the support of civil society.

This inauguration was chaired by the governor of the prefecture of Salé, in the presence of the president of the municipality of Salé, Jamaâ El Moâtassim, a number of elected officials, associative representatives, in addition to actors in the media, cultural and artistic fields.

The commune of Salé … For an open administration

Ms. Halima Chouika, vice-president of the commune council of Salé, attended the congress prepared by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Tunisia on March 13, 2018 in Tunis, on the theme: “The local administration opened”; and this, in collaboration with the cities La Marsa, Sfax, Sayada, and in the presence of a Madrilenian speaker alongside the experts from the OECD.

This conference was an opportunity for Ms. Chouika to expose, in the framework of her speech entitled “The commune of Salé, for an open administration”, the efforts made by the municipality of Salé to consolidate the principle of open administration through the realization of its foundations, namely the strengthening of integrity, while promoting transparency, broader citizen participation and increased use of new technologies. Thus, Ms. Chouika pointed out that a series of measures was taken by the commune of Salé in this direction, such as: the creation of consultation committees at the level of the five boroughs; the institutionalization of the public consultation through the establishment of the “Thursday Concertation”, as a space for exchange and consultation on many issues affecting local affairs, and which is organized on the first Thursday of each month. She also referred to the initiative undertaken by the municipality for the publication, via its electronic site, of the decisions of the council, as well as a set of administrative data relating to the budget, the public markets, the procedures concerning the authorizations.

This meeting was the perfect opportunity to share ideas and experiences with the representatives of Tunisian cities mentioned above, just as it was agreed to hold the next gathering in Salé to present the OECD recommendations about the communal experience of Salé.
