Kick-off of the 12th edition of the Salé Women’s International Film Festival

Under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, may God glorify Him, and at the initiative of the Association Bouregreg, the curtain was lifted Monday evening, on the 12th edition of the International Film Festival of Women of Salé   ( FIFFS), in the presence of an audience of artists and personalities from the world of art, culture and cinema.

On this occasion, the President of the Bouregreg Association, Mr. Noureddine Chemaou, emphasized at the opening ceremony that the 12th edition “brought together, as usual, this harmonious mosaic of cultures that differ in their methods. their ways of thinking and their approaches; but remaining human cultures rather convergent than divergent. “

He added that this event is a platform dedicated exclusively to femininity, emphasizing that the festival is an area of ​​excellence and distinction, whose objective is to consolidate the noble values ​​of equality, freedom, dignity , coexistence and tolerance, far from the trends of violence and extremism.

For his part, the president of Salé commune, Mr. Jamaâ El Moâtassim, considers that the festival has become a distinctive and registered trademark of the city of Salé, expressing his pride for the celebration of the artist woman, intellectual and carrying a message.

He stressed that this festival aims to strengthen the values ​​of communication, mutual understanding and cooperation with different cultures in order to consolidate the values ​​of peace, love and cooperation between peoples. “We are, in the city of Salé, committed to make culture a lever for development through the realization of cultural programs, theaters, museums, libraries and other facilities likely to return to the city of Sale its radiation of yesteryear. “

The opening ceremony of this edition, which will continue until September 29, was marked by a posthumous tribute to Moroccan film critic and writer Mustapha El Mesnaoui and Mohammed Arious, a member of the organizing committee of FIFFS.

A vibrant tribute was also paid to four female film personalities, namely director Selma Baccar (Tunisia), producer Sara Silveira (Brazil) and actresses Rania Farid Chawki (Egypt) and Houda Rihani (Morocco).

The guest of honor of this edition will be the Brazilian cinema, through the projection of 4 films. This festival is also a space for debate through the organization of forums dealing with several themes, masters-class, workshops, as well as the presentation of various works of several women writers.

This event is a platform that promotes cultural and artistic exchange between renowned filmmakers from around the world. It also aims to deepen the debate around films dedicated to women and to continue the opening on the creative experiences, whether in the cinematographic writing or research in related issues.
